In reply to Stefan. Hi Stefan! There are two cups sugar in the cake, another two in the frosting. It does not taste overly sweet at all but you can reduce the sugar by 1/2 cup in each if you prefer.

Going to be making this next week for my birthday. I noticed 4 cups of sugar on the recipe. That seems like a lot, does the cake end up very sweet?

I have made this exclusively with King Arthur Measure for Measure GF flour (+ dairy free milk) for years and always had perfect results! Everything is subbed 1:1. My favorite chocolate cake recipe!

In reply to Pat. Hi Pat! It should make 18-24 depending on size. Note that the batter rises a LOT so don't fill them more than half full.
