Hi Karen! I think it will probably be fine. Usually cakes will start to dry out if refrigerate for longer than 3 days, but I think if you make it on Sunday it will be totally fine on Tuesday. Be sure to serve it at room temperature.

Liv – I am excited to bake this delicious cake for my son and daughter-in-law who are coming to visit next week ahead of Thanksgiving.
I have made a number of your cakes using your recipes and they always come out looking beautiful and tasting increditble. I appreciate all the instructions, warnings and suggestions you share.

QUestion: Can I make the cake over the weekend and serve it on Tuesday? Will it stay well in the refrigerator for a few days??

This recipe was way better than anticipated!
I layered the cake in three 9in cake pans and used some extra dulce de leche to make a caramel to drizzle over the top.
I took another user’s suggestion of only 1/2 cup of butter in the Buttercream, but followed the rest of the recipe correctly.
Even my younger brother thought it was delicious.
10/10 | This was the best chocolate cake recipe I have found online, and this was far from the first I’ve attempted.

Hi Sally! Swiss meringue buttercream it not for everyone. Especially if you’re used to something like an American buttercream it can taste very buttery. That being said, it should not taste like you’re eating straight up butter and if you found it too buttery using only 1/2 cup I wonder if something went wrong along the way. The cake was delicious! Thank you. However the icing called for too much butter. I ended up using 1/2 cup of butter instead of the 1.5cups and found the icing too buttery. In future, I will not add any butter and enjoy the meringue icing as is.
